This is a car I always longed to own since I was a schoolboy. Whenever I went to the Athens airport I saw these lovely vans driving around.

A few years back a friend of mine got hold of one and started restoring it. The whole front end was replaced but not much else was done as the project halted.

Recently he told me he was selling it and I didn't think twice. The car was imediately sent to the bodyshop and the engine to my mechanic.

Posted Image

The car was bodged pretty badly and loads of filler was removed rom the sides.

It was painted a few days ago and now I just need to fit the refreshed engine and the interior.

The Olympic Airways colour was dark blue in the beggining and changed to a lighter shade in the aerly 80's. I went for the original 70's colour scheme.

The seat colour was copied from an abandoned Mini van I found near the airport.

Look's excellent, Would it have originally come with a steel pressed grille?

Yes, but I will go for the hidden screwed down panel for servicing reasons. The 4 small screws are next to invisible thanks to the dark colour.

Love the first picture - a MK2 Ford Transit, a Mini van and a Caravelle! You don't see those any more.

Fantastic little van, can't wait to see some more updates, are you going to keep as original as possible?
