Hello all
Me and some of my friends are keen drivers and enjoy going on track days and visiting car shows. as title suggest we have been considering a 4-5 day trip to the Nurburgring at some point mid next year and have just started to work out fuel, expenditure, money etc.
  • So i thought i would ask if any one has tried this trip in there Mini  (and made it as its a good 600 miles :P)
  • Good Ferry company's to get us out of the UK?
  • If there is any recommendations for accommodation in or around Nurburg?
  • Cost per lap £10 or £15 however many Euros
  • Also will be good to hear of any experiences.
many thanks

There is an organised Mini Run to the Nurburgring organised by some guys from this forum -

I'm not sure if they still do it but likely do, if not alot of the folk who have been should be able to help you with the costs they had..

Timtom

Edit: I know they used to camp here - http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/

im one of the organisers of BH2N. Iv done the trip twice in a mini (blew my engine up the 2nd time) we use norfolkline ferries normally on the dover to dunkirk route. one lap is 26 euros i believe as said we camp at camping am nuerburgring.

Edit: Eric beat me as said though its a great experience to drive it.

Ey up!

I've just set up a new forum for it too. It's now at

www.retrorun.co.uk/forums

We go every year and going with a big group of people like us certainly has benefits. We get camping discounts, we get a convoy going and we all look after each other. We normally go early september but might switch to August next year. Feel free to sign up to the forum and join in.

and costs:

€14 per person per day at Camping Am Nürburgring
Mid Summer ferry is about £120 return. September ferry is cheaper at around £70. DFDS is the ferry company we use. Dover to Dunkirk is a good crossing. E40/E42 route over there. 5 hours from Dunkirk to campsite but allow 6 in a Mini.

Keep your Mini well serviced and it's going to be fine.

Lsps are €26 for a single I think, but cheaper if you buy multi-lap tickets.

Any other questions, gimme a shout.

I went this year. good to go by yourself but even better to go on the retro run as the campsite banter is terrific!

If your mini is well looked after then it shouldnt be too much of a trouble for you. Mine had no worries whatso ever. Fuel wise it cost me around £150 in total there and back

Jealous!!

I'm going to go and peruse that forum, though it's a bit of a pipe dream from here... For now ;-)

What a cool holiday to do with mates too. But I'd be trying hard to do the retro run, what an awesome trip.
