i want to put a cigarette lighter in so i can use my sat nav can i just wire of the live for the stereo or what other ways of doing it is there ?

Live off fusebox and an earth, easy

As above and if you have the 4 glass fuses box wire it on the third one down. This will allow it to work with the ignition so that the battery won't drain while switched of.

Make sure you use suitable size wiring as a lighter socket can draw a bit of current

You could also run a new line from the main feed if you wish.
