ok every five or so months i get the same problem.
car over fuels runs badly still drivable, but sounds like its missing.

now car stinks of fuel. spark on all 4 plugs and was running fine a week ago. the last time i used it. ( been left for a week in the garage.)

no the last twice i strip the carb down give it a quick clean. find no problems but the problem is gone,

when i was driving the mini today you could feel, it go back to normal for a second, then bog back down.

80% sure it the carb. plugs very back quickly after cleaning them

any ideas why??

p.s engine is a 998, 940 head, 270 cam, viz modified 1 1/2" carb ram pipe sock filter,
electronic ignition,

been running great for 6 months around 1000 miles.

very strange that when i'm drive alone some time for a second it fixes it self.

any way problem fix,
stripped carb down. cleaned up and runs great again.

i think it was on of the gaskets. replaced now and running fine.

Do you have a fuel filter fitted just before the carb? Could be a small bit of rust trapped under the float chamber valve which causes this to overfill, floods carb and spills petrol out of the overflow.

right o will add a fuel filter.

try that. there was a bit of crap in the float bowl.
