Beat a Toyota celia or whatever there called few weeks ago, he was right up my ass following me home along the seafront. So pretty much lost him on all the roundabouts and corners :D When I say pretty much lost him, he soon caught up with me on the straights haha!

Mick (my son) and I did a Welsh Road-Rally Championship qualifier a few years ago which has an Historic Section. We hoped to win the Historics, which we did, but we were 2nd Overall against all the top Welsh modern rally competitors with the winner being in a Mk.2 Escort RS2000. There was surprise and some consternation that my little Mini actually caught and passed a former Welsh Champion in his Escort on a gravel forest section.
But I did strip & check the engine & transmission after that event as it was so hard on the car. On twisty roads there is still little that will beat a Mini with about 115 bhp and very low gearing and well set-up suspension. I was using 165/70 x 10 knobbly tyres with slightly raised ride height by the way.
The key to my car is that it handles so well, although the road-holding on tarmac on knobbly tyres is not all that good. But in the forests on gravel it's awesome - sideways everywhere  .

Nah he doesnt. I think he became disillusioned with Mini ownership after getting ripped off with both buying the car and a certain Brum Mini 'specialist' that he paid to change his clutch and they very obviously didnt. I put right ALOT of bodges on the car when he first had it just to get it useable. Ive still got pictures of it here if you want them

Kept up with a Cayman R down some country roads earlier, he only got away on the straights. Fully adhered to speed limits obviously. :)
