All Mk.2's were hydrolastic, as were Mk.1's from Sept. 1964 onwards.
The Mk.2 has a padded top & bottom dash rail and a dip-switch on the column stalk. The Mk.1 has a floor mounted dip-switch.

The whole point of the mk2 was the revolutionary door hinges and the lights. I don't think they would have put the older lights in, as it would have meant putting the mk1 rear panel!
what was different about the door hinges on a mk2 compared to a mk1?????????

The Mk.2 has a padded top & bottom dash rail
It's only the bottom rail that's padded on the MK 2, unless you are counting the trim on the Cooper and S as padding.

I thought that some of the early mk2 s came with mk1 rear lights?????????????????

Some of the very last Mk2's came with Mk3 bootlids and paint colours.

Sorry! Stoopid moment! Writing about mk3s for the hinges part! Dunno why! I got a mk2!
