dooing work on my mini today, was putting and exhaust clamp one without jacking it up and was struggling to do so, im not fat and im only 17.

i went and grabbed a coke for accurate measurement to see how low it was, the picture is of it under the sump, i wouldnt even fit underneat the Y piece or the centre pipe, squeezed back underneath round about where the back box connects to the cetre pipe.

so yeah is it this low standard? do i have a modified suspension or is it just knackerd? theres nothing inside the mini either apart from two alfa romeo seats.

Oh and its lower af the front that it is at the back.

Also minis were designed to sit slightly higher at the rear, as far as I know

+1, but not just minis, I can't think of any car of the top of my head which has ever sat higher at the front than the rear, :D

Does look a tad low......I think.

What's the gap between tyre and arch like? And how much space between the bump stop and the upper arm?

Yeah, looking at some pics of mine, I reckon I could get two coke cans underneath mine, and I'm still going to be raising it up some more.

Your front wings need to be cut in order to get clearance on your wheels.

Donnnnt get a flip front! That's from experience!

I'd say your mini is too high ;)

1986 Mini will need new rubber cones but the knuckle joints/cups may also be worn which drops the ride height over time.

"The rubber cone design is good, not ever lasting. The rubber not only gets very hard but it also sags and losses it's ability to hold the car upright. It is not uncommon to have a cone sag so bad that it lowers the car 2 or 3 inches and it handles terribly. Like all rubber products, they only have a certain shelf life and being fitted equates to the same. These might need replacing every 5-7 years depending on use and climate, but are usually good for at least 20,000 miles in the UK."

I found these pictures that might help:
If you look at the pic below the knuckle joint is the one with the yellow arrow and the cone has the red arrow.

You should be able to tell if the cones are knackered:
