Well, that's what proper machine shops do. Check out Rob Walker Engineerin's web site for confirmation. I'm about to have a 4-bolt cap fitted to a Mk.1 1275 'S' block.

To be really accurate, any boring should be honed to size afterwards........
No it shouldn't. It depends entirely on what the design engineer has specified as the required finish and tolerance and how the production engineer has decided to achieve that finish & tolerance. I'm not getting into a p*****g contest with you as, no doubt, you'll end up with your usual 'I always know better than anyone else on here' sarcasm and it's totally unnecessary on what is otherwise a friendly and fun forum.

Agreed. And to keep that friendly term lets leave it at that & ask cooperman if he will donate this Mk.1 1275 'S' unit to one of us when its built up
