I think you also have to take into account what the mini will be used for. Mine has an oversill on one side, I will get around to swapping it at some point but not in the near future. It has been treated to a full can of Dynax S50 and an endoscope inspection. My car never sees the rain unless it gets a shower on the way back from a show. It lives in a nice dry garage and is only taxed march-September. I don't see any rush to change them. If it was a daily driver I might think differently.

If it ain't broke, don't fit it.

But it is broke ! ,the longer you leave it the worst it'll get speading into further more rotting of the doorster/frame ect... costing more money

Might be because I don't drive much, but my oversills are fine. I did some exploratory surgery with a grinder, they are the same if not thicker than the replacement bits I bought then decided not to fit.

My car was always left out in the loverly sea air and rain and the sills rusting was never a problem. The door step sure, the rear frames, the scuttle, ALL the inside of the arches where the air vents go, sure.

But those sills remains solid as a rock. Well, a rock surrounded by rust and paint.

Oversilles are coming off! I have some rust in the innersill in the drivers side (the left side that is..).

I'm planning on replacing both front floors (They are made of several patches, not done very nicely) along the innersills and outer sills. Are the Minispares floors a good fit?

I too have suffered from the dreaded oversills and now have to replace both inner and outer sills on both sides.

I think what you should consider is that no matter how good they look from the outside, ask yourself why they were fitted? If there was nothing wrong they wouldnt have been put on. I dont care how much rust preventation was added - they were fitted for a reason - ansd that is usually to cover up some damage.

Well they were fitted becuase they were cheaper than the original ones, and the owner thought they would be stronger due to the extra width.

..but they are soon history, I'm replacing them with genuine sills as the inner sills needs changing.

Right I just grabbed some pictures so you can see it.

Left doorstep, you can see two of the three plugs for filling the sill with tectyl, dinitrol waxoyl or similar.

Tried to get a shot so you can see how much tectyl there really is in it.

The underside of the oversill, left side

The bottom, it has been covered well in tectyl, or waxoyl.

..But here is the problem, the inersill is rotten where a patch has been welded onto the sill.
There is no way back, the innersill has to be replaced. I'm changing the entire floor (front) on both sides as it now has been made of patches. (done on top of eachother)

I'll try and see if I can get an endoscope in there. if not, you have to wait untill I replace the floors. :)
