One thing to watch out for with anything that is soldered is that solder will creep under pressure. It's actually the lead in the solder that creeps under pressure to be specific.

For example never tin (solder) the ends of wires and then use them to wire up a plug. You may tighten the screws up fine but after a period of time the solder will creep under the pressure and the wire will not be held in place properly!

In other words don't put a soldered joint/wire under a large amount of pressure!

I don't know if the above helps at all but it may save a problem or two at some stage.

Soldered fittings should be fine, and as for the vibration thing never heard of that one before and consider that most splices etc on civil aircraft are soldered and they do vibrate a sight more than a mini ever will.

Again though its down to preparation and using the right tools. We use a soldered crimp that has a clear shrink casing that enable you to see when the solder flows and seals the connection at the same time. Enviromental crimp and something that i will be using on Paddy when i sort out the nest of snakes that have taken up residence under the dash board

Don't ever rely on cheap 'Flambeater' style extinguishers. Even if you have two of them in the car!

You may as well just get the marsh mellows out and watch it burn!
