Hi,

Has anyone been able to improve / increase the fan speed that that blows through the windscreen blowers.

My 1977 Clubman is very poor (almost nothing), but the heater is quite strong (but new extremley hot).

Thanks,

Mark

I believe that some of the works cars had a clear strip of plastic a couple of inches tall that sat along the bottom of the windscreen to help direct the air onto the screen but I could be wrong

A few people swap the heater unit out completely for more efficient and smaller units. There's a few on here that work well... http://www.cbsonline...tilation,b.html

I like the idea of these though!

I get quite a good stream of air through my vents on my 75 Clubbie. Is everything connected ok and not crimped up.

This actually looks like a good idea, can help along with the original heater fitted.

Yes the works cars had a strip of perspex about 2 or 3 inches tall mounted on top of the dash rail to direct the heat higher up onto the screen. This was later superceded by the electrically heated screen.

The later plastic bodied heater (not sure about the single speed but definitely the double) has larger pipes to the window demisters which seem to do a better job.

Is the air still blowing out the front of the heater, when it's on the window setting ? If it is chances are that the control flap, has come off it's pivots and isn't controlling the airflow correctly. You'll need to strip the heater to correct this.........

When you select the screen option on the slider - heat still comes out of the heater!!! Maybe that is the problem.

Therefore I am now right in thinking that when you select the screen option, the in car heat blower should stop.

If so, looks like a heater strip down.

Thanks.

the mini heater is actually very good at de-misting the front window, but as said above, you need to make sure that all the air is being diverted to the demist vents and not into the cabin. Usually the foam seals degrade in the heater, but easily fixable. also work taping up the heater pipes to the heater/demist vents, as well as putting a bit of sealer on the vents to the dash. the mini mag did an article a few years ago about servicing the heater

The electric demisters fron CBS draw 14 amps each and you are likely to need two of them, so would need a 70 amp alternator to allow for other electrical loads. However, unlike any hot water-fed device, they will give fast warm up. I would be intrigued to know how they would be mounted in a Mini, as the top dash rail is structural and apart from the normal demister slots can't safely be cut away. I think you would need to build it outwards towards the driver with a bit of metal, and then make a new padded cover for it. That may be viable with a central instrument cluster, but with other types I think it would be difficult. Hopefully someone will do it, make a nice job of it, and show us how.

The small conventional heater does look very useful, but again I would like to see some pictures of one installed in a Mini, to see how it fits.

I see no reason why Mini owners should not benefit from modern technology to make the cars more comfortable in winter, as long as it still looks like and handles as well as, or better than a Mini of course. A secondary heater for the rear passengers and demisting of the quarterlights would not go amiss either.

I must say that it looks extremely neat. Could be ideal in a Mini. The only snag is that there is no way of operating the flaps remotely, they seem to just be very stiff, so you set them by hand to the position that suits. But that is a small loss compared to the space and weight saving. I like it.

I have one of those from t7 designs, he is a top bloke and that fan is awesome I have wired in a pulse wave modulAtor to control the fan speed. I have two ducts going to the windscreen and the another two of the round ones from the site that canbe closed moved etc.

Can't rate it highly enough
