I was finally able to get more tubing for the cage this week. I will have more pics up through the week.

I was able to get the back half tacked into place.

Was able to get a few more bits tacked in on the cage today

I only have one part of the door bars in. I will finish them off on thursday.

As for the bar in the front, it will be tied into the steering rack and the lower subframe mount. If I feel ambitious enough I will tie it in to the top subframe mount too.

Well boys and girls, it's been a little wile since I have posted anything up, but that is mainly because I have been too buisy working. So here are the updates.

I'm going to start off by posting the final picture of the roll cage finishing off the door bars.
20140313_151517_zps8yxthhr1.jpg

Then from there I was able to get my steering in place.
20140329_155802_zpsj1k21ecg.jpg
20140329_155829_zpsqrjzzfls.jpg

Got the caliper brackets all done and the brakes all mounted up.
20140330_122002_zpsjpeogehb.jpg
20140330_144607_zpst8dmc22n.jpg

Lower engine mount.
20140330_174111_zpsn3ts289s.jpg

My solution for the shifter is a bit interesting. I tried mounting the shifter in its standard spot, but because I have a MKI the shifter took up all of the room in the exhaust tunnel. I did not feel like cutting the floor apart to run the exhaust. So, I raised the shifter by fabbing up a box out of aluminum to raise the shifter about 6 inches, but I had trouble getting the linkage to work.
20140330_174111_zpsn3ts289s.jpg

Modding the shifter tubes in an arc or at a right angle wouldnt alow the shifter to move side to side. So I had to come up with a straight piece from the shifter to the tranny.
20140410_150150_zpsv6hjsctc.jpg

And everything installed.
20140410_151417_zpsns72wtyb.jpg

Because of steering interferience I had to shave the crank pully down.
20140407_164028_zpsyv5hdoig.jpg

Next was on to the drive shafts. Cut on the lathe, then TIG welded together.
20140415_133701_zpsk38lnpld.jpg
20140415_133752_zpsp9yvfgyr.jpg
20140415_220357_zpsjvgt0cwz.jpg

More to come soon.

More updates...

Some of the new bits that I picked up recently. A plastic ammo box for the light weight battery.
20140417_124659_zpsncpjxf9s.jpg

My hydtolic handbrake That I still have to figure out how I am going to mount.
20140422_132443_zpsxiasqckn.jpg

And my new aluminum rad that I need to modify to fit in the front of the car.
20140423_142534_zpsghnecifr.jpg

I was able to get my iintake mounted. Just 15 degree cut and welded it back together and it cleared the bulkhead quite well.
20140421_152706_zpsxil10dhc.jpg
20140421_153308_zps6ivpezde.jpg

I also worked away at getting the front end fitting some what as I don't have my hood latches yet. I also insisted on using my 4 to 1 header to get a bit more midrange torque out of the b16.
20140421_160355_zps1xvezots.jpg
20140501_162413_zpsumloengp.jpg

And finally, my some assembly required fuel cell. I wanted to try and make one for the challenge oof saying I could. Its a 5 gallon cell that will use the honda fuel pump and it will also be filled with fuel foam.
20140423_185935_zpsdvsgjygw.jpg

Holes cut for fuel pump and acess to cell foam, as well as to dip the tank if I need.
20140426_183733_zpsvewe4jhj.jpg

Made some nuts to be welded on the back.
20140427_141202_zpszzzeewqb.jpg

And all welded up and water tested with filler neck in place as well.
20140428_165707_zpsvusogrqy.jpg

Next step was to get the trunk floor ready for the fuel tank and battery box.
20140430_150948_zpswealnhm9.jpg
20140430_180244_zpsqrpffslw.jpg
20140501_162005_zps286kfnlw.jpg

And everything set in place.

Thanks. I've done a bit more but I haven't got any pictures yet.

Yeah I water tested it and I have the fuel cell foam for it as well. But you are right about testing it and filling it with foam.

Water testing is no good mate it HAS to be pressure tested or else
You will have a fuel leak. Send it to a radiator specialist they can do pressure testing. Or a proper fuel tank supplier. If you have a leak you could burn the car to the ground:(

The cage is 1.25 od DOM tubing. The class I'm running states the car has to be at least 1450 lbs. Anything under 1500 lbs is aloud to have a 1.25 x .090 tube. I am using 1.25 x .125 so I'm good.

Well a lot has happened since my last update, and I only have half of the photos because I've been working too hard on it. I'm aiming to have the car ready to compete for an event on the 22nd of this month. So here is what I have been up to.

I was able to get my rad mounted
20140502_203436_zps0dkv2tpc.jpg

As well as the exhaust.
20140515_202531_zps3vme8vhb.jpg

20140515_202557_zpsscg4kuv2.jpg

Then turned some attention to the interior. Dashbord figured out.
20140514_213943_zpsfaoqnmyx.jpg

Some body bracing to the cage.
20140515_204232_zpsxqryyou8.jpg

20140515_204246_zpsvdplqhiu.jpg

Then sorted some fuel. Filler neck and fuel lines run.
20140516_192827_zpsebggcgll.jpg

20140516_203129_zpsanktqsab.jpg

20140516_203105_zpsehgb0y9c.jpg

Driveshafts were next on the list. Assembled then installed
20140517_134123_zpsxk26mzix.jpg

20140517_163001_zpsvn0rvqaz.jpg

20140517_163020_zpsrdt31ptf.jpg

Then some exterior panels. Mounted the front end.

20140523_223643_zpswslpmta9.jpg

20140524_132428_zpskqknzce8.jpg

Unfortunately, we all know how well the fiberglass fronts fit, so I had to add some. I will smooth it out later.

20140524_155347_zps7tktuk8l.jpg

Then installed the boot lid.

20140521_190848_zpsqy1bjhk5.jpg

20140521_190816_zps59jkm3yu.jpg

And of course the doors. (I only have a pic of one at the moment but it looks the same only on the other side.)
