It's not that big a lump and won't weigh much more than a red top

Its bigger than a red top and doesn't fit the F series of gearboxes that fit into an allspeed frame.

I looked at fitting the twin turbo saab version into my astra mk3 and that was going to be a hell of a squeeze. Width wise is not the problem its the manifolds on the front and back of the engine. You then have the turbo that sticks out, the intercooler and a huge radiator needed to cool it all.

A bit of research suggested that the engine could be bolted to a Saab FM55 or FM57 gearbox with a modified clutch and these will fit into the astra mk3 but they require the use of the saab mounts that bolt to the car, not the vauxhall mounts bolting to the box. This means that all speed mounts would not fit to the gearbox.

The M32 gearbox is weak and the F40 is huge. I think a custom frame would bee need and an extended front (possibly extended clubman front) to get it all in.

The final thing to consider and I am always saying this when people suggest fitting diesel engines into a mini, is that the gearing will be wrong. Most people who do an engine swap fit a diesel gearbox to the petrol engine to get the final drive somewhat right.

I was thinking the same with a custom frame and gear ratios
