I would just like to add that a ram stack works by using the venturi effect to 'ram' more air into the carb by using the tapered part of the pipe and the rounded end is there to reduce the angel into the pipe as air doesn’t like sharp corners.


This about explains the effect of a stub stack, if you put sharp edges onto the airintake, the air doesn't flow neatly but creates an articifial restriction, by curving the intake all the way in you avoid this and make best use of the diameter/CSA available.

I'm going to put a landrover snorkel on my mini, theres my input :shifty:


thats brave, they are so land rovers go underwater... please dont take your mini swimming, you will be able to see the rust appear ;)


I think it'll be a laugh.. :shifty:


As i proved about ten years ago, well maintained mini's can swim perfectly well without snorkels;

im sure DV will be reading this with interest and maybe a revised book to include the section "in-car induction systems" . he must have missed it out of the other editions
