Weber 45 on a 998??

Also no mention of cam, are you using a standard cam? Do you really need "strenghened" con rods on a lightly tuned 998?

I would say about 50bhp..

i for got about the cam, i want a road/rally cam form mini sport and a cooper S clutch plate.

you can get the weber jetted for a 998, do you thnk that twin 11/4" SU's would be better, in the mini peformance manuel it says that you can put a weber 45 on a 998.

I'm building a fast road 998 at the moment.

12g940 MG head
Bocket the block
Kent 266 cam
SU HIF 44.
Stage 1 kit.

I've just read the "All in the head" question in this months workshop Q+A in miniworld. They think that if this sort of set up, is set up well,it should be between 65-70bhp.I was amazed with that.

at least 70 bhp i reckon mainly because of using the 1275 head. will make a massive difference.

Rob3 has a tuned 998:

+0.40 to 1040cc
modified 12G295 head
twin 1.25" SU's
Morspeed phase 2 cam
10.5:1 CR
roughly 3.6:1 FD
Freeflow manifold with 1.75" system
Fully set-up by AC Dodd
other stuff I can't remember

63 bhp and very flat torque curve - lovely engine to drive.
