Mine does the same atm, but the strange thing is, that I just have to try a few times and then it randomly engages and starts. SOmetimes it engages on the first try, sometimes on the 5 th.
I did overhaul the starter, but I did not lube it, as people advised me not to do so.
Should I lube it?
