I've had several of these and still own two, 1.6 cherry red ( my first car ) and 1.9 sorrento. I can't quite tell from the picture is it steel grey or graphite? The limited edition models were made in sorrento green and Miami blue, only on G plates (1990) and had full grey leather and were phase 1.5 cars.

I did for a short while have a gti6 engine in the sorrento but converted back to the 8v 1.9. I would like to install it in the cherry one day when I get the time.

Fantastic cars, I'd like a nice alpine white cti to add to the collection one day.

Very nice. There's a white 1.9 GTi on my road that's been sat unused for probably 7+ years. The owner became a recluse after his Mother died and has just left it there to grow vegetation. If I had the money and space I'd rescue it myself, I love 80's hot hatches (Fiesta XR2, MK2 Golf GTI, Astra GTE etc.)

Soooo, I've started buying some bits.

Got some -30mm springs for the front,

Group N top mounts,

New top mount bearings,

New drop links

Poly ARB mounts

Waiting for a pair of Avo top adjustable shocks

Magnex 4-branch manifold

Magnex backbox

Solid mounts for rear subby

Couple of new bits on interior trim that were a little loose

New ignition amplifier

New SAD valve as the old one was a little sticky

New breather/filler hoses as the old ones were tatty

New alarm/remote C-locking and window closure module fitted

New front tyres..... I've gone for Uniroyal Rain Sports and they feel so much better.  Going to get a pair for the rear too.  Not too noisy, nice and grippy in the dry, but also great in the wet.  There's still a little understeer there, but not too bad and I'm hoping the 30mm drop on the front will settle it a bit more too.  I was going to go for coilovers and adjustable top mounts to tweak the camber, but I couldn't be bothered as I'm using it as a daily.

It's pretty much ready for the run to Germany at the end of July and I'll be happy to tackle the 'ring with it as it is.  I might just pop a new clutch, cambelt and water pump in it before the trip.

Had a nice afternoon outside work, wish the car was clearner, but hey ho!

Sweeeeet!

I've got a tatty 1.9 in Miami Blue on a K-Plate (so one of the last that they made).  Can't bear to part with it (and when I see threads like this it makes me glad I still have it), it's tucked up in storage for the time being until the mini is finished.

One question for you - do you know if the rear torsion suspension beam been rebuilt in the past?  Quite a common area for seizure.....might be worth a check over.

And I second the opinion about keeping this standard.....it looks in far too good a nick to start messing with it (too much at least  ;-) )

Yup, someone had it done at Skip Browns and paid just about a grand to have a full rear beam rebuild a few years ago.  Still got the receipt for it somewhere :proud:

But the rear beam is smooth as anything, no knocks or creaks, all the calipers, discs and pads were replaced last year too (front and rear).

Yeah, I'm surprised how much has been spent over the years. One of the previous owners (Don Louth) was the editor for the Peugeot Sport owners club magazine, so he got it featured in a few mags.

There are about £3k worth of receipts from Skip Brown alone, probably another £500 from Spoox in Leicester, a load of Peugeot service receipts..... it's had some mental money spent on it.

But I might sell it after the Germany trip (in August).  I'm just losing interest in cars.  The Mini is up for sale ASAP, the Pug will have to go, the other Pug (CTI) will be done up and go and then I'll sell off all of the other bits really.  I'm just starting to realise that other things in life are far more important than little old cars, health being one example.
