Unscrew the oil filter, remove the HT leads and turn it over whilst it pumps out how much you want to remove.

Just get a cheap hand pump. Make sure the end you stuck down is clean. Pump away.

I change the oil like this on my BMW, albeit with a more substantial pump.

how much over? if its a like a few mm ir be fine :) but most of it properly leak out anyways

it was a good half inch to an inch over, don't know how i managed it to be honest, just got a bit carried away.

I think i'm just gonna stick a tub underneath and drain a bit at a time until i get to right.

Up to 1/4" over-full is fine. We used to overfill our rally cars to avoid oil surge and to avoid having to top up during an event. Much over that and you just need to undo the sump plug, drain a pint or so out, and do up the sump plug. 1/4" on the dipstick is about 1 pint. How difficult can that be to do? I did it on a 7.5 litre Volvo turbo diesel engine last week.

if you unscrew the drain plug make sure the engine is cold - I knew a guy who over filled a company car then panicked and unscrewed the drain plug hot oil all over his hand and bingo the drain plug fell into the bowl needless to say wasn't over filled for long

Yes, never start an engine with a new filter unless the filter has been primed before fitting.

To drain some oil out you remove the sump plug. That's what the sump plug is for and it's hard to see why anyone would want to do it any other way. Simples.

I would just leave it until the next oil change. An excessively high oil level will cause a bit of extra drag on the gears and what they splash up will cause some drag on the crankshaft, and some may also be ejected into the breathers and ingested and burnt by the engine, but if it is not causing an excessive and illegal amount of smoke, it will not actually be doing any real harm. High oil level alone will not cause excess pressure which might blow seals etc.

Sorted it now, I thought that the oil would have come out at a faster rate but was a lot slower than I thought. Easy peasy :D Cheers guys.
