Cheers Zara, I always looked for a conversion to Springs but my wallet never agreed till Shifty found some on a mini and had my name on them....... then it was a must have....I believe the front ones are a pain to put on prob 1 hour each side with any luck, how's you by the way

bit of a to do with HUY's head....gasket gone in 3 places after 1000 miles. Then again he had a bitta pounding with the Weber 45 carb and various water issues........so I cleaned all de-choked head, lapped valve seats, taken the mayo out of the rocker cover, weighed a ton........waiting for new springs tmz and putting in a higher compression gasket......

not good ,
noticed you fit engine using brackets attached to head bolts , did you re torque the head after fitting i never use this method and put a strap around the whole engine / box ,could be a reason for early gasket failure ?

certainly could be a reason as I fitted the coil bracket after and did not re-torque that one enough, I might attache the bracket onto the bell housing instead this time....

compression test done with a push on tester, Cylinder 1-4 148-170-170-170, Cylinder one has 1 old ring which explains the drop, over all happy with the result, engine was cold, if I had used a screw in tester the reading would have been better, compared with the old set-up it's overall an 20% increase ![]()
