If you can't park a mini without the need for parking sensors, perhaps you should take the bus!

I was thinking of maybe but then I realised it is a mini and not a tank!!!! ha ha. Sorry couldn't help myself. I know that Martin aka sticky fingers has got a reversing camera feed on his R1 cabriolet.

Even so, everyone should learn how to judge the distance of a gap and the size of a car - the use of sensors puts a huge amount of trust into a technology that may not be there one day. Even more so when it comes to a Mini - one rusted connector and the system doesn't want to know.

Learning with correct use of mirrors and looking over their shoulder comes first.

They don't let you use sensors in your driving test surely?

I havent seen an option to turn them off on the wifes Ibiza! It turns the radio down and everything!

To the OP, you can buy cheap kits on eBay, I think they're powered off the reverse light bulb wiring

Yes you can. Automatic wipers, automatic lights, active stability management and traction control can all be used or atleast you could when I took my test back in 2007.

I don't think they should be allowed personally. A lot of youngsters will go from a new 60 something plate BMW/peugot/etc with all these on to a 20 year old corsa b with no driver aids at all and then wonder why their car is sliding into a hedge.

Reversing a mini into a space is easy. As soon as your rear windscreen is pretty much up to the vehicle/wall/etc behind then you are far enough back. Also if you do reverse a mini into something as they have metal bumpers they tend to damage the other object instead (bollards might be an exception). I got rear ended by a bus with mine. My bumper smashed the bus's grill in and I didn't get as much as a scratch, just shunted forward 2'.

Cheers all

I was interested to see if someone had blended / inserted in the bumper etc so they don't look like an after thought,

This was also prompted after the bread knife reversed her BMW mini into a parked car yesterday.

Happy chap............no chance

Most reversing sensors will only work in plastic bumpers. Some do work in metal, but they are not so common. :shades:

Ive seen number plate surrounds that have two sensors, one on each sound

Quite subtle, could work

Also my driving instructor made me turn the sensors off in the fiesta I learnt in (front and rear sensors)
They told you how close you were to the kerb lol
