... start the most uninteresting build thread ever. You should probably hit the back button now.

It started out as an '89 Flame Red when I bought it in 2005
Posted Image

After thousands of dollars spent, it is still a Flame Red 8 years later.

Some specs
1098, flat top pistons (10:1 compression), kent 266, electronic ignition, 32/36 downdraught weber, cooper freeflow, RC40, straight cut drops, xpin diff, standard head... I know, 12g295 being worked on right now. Maybe some 1.3 full rollers to go on with the head.

Most things have been broken and replaced, such as alternator, brake and clutch masters, servo, rad, starter, also a new wiring loom. It runs pretty well now, never overheats.

It's on 10" alloy "steelies", AP cooper brakes, braided brake hoses, Yoko A032R, HD adjustable lower arms & tie rod, Kad rear camber brackets, KYB gas-a-justs, solid mounted subbies and a Kad quick shift in there as well.

Old pictures of the door cards with a cut up Indian bedspread

I have DSN door shiney things on there now.
Posted Image
It's an acquired taste, but I like them. I just need to redo them properly...

Centre binnacle with microsuade and wood dash. Also Motolita wood steering wheel.
Posted Image

Some plans for the future:
-The chrome side strip fell off on the freeway, I'm gonna have to replace that. I'll also paint the flares brown (russet brown like) pretty soon, maybe this weekend.
-I'm also working with Roofless on some decals
Posted Image
-I have some corner bars and over rider that needs to go on.
-one lucas SLR700 spot light smack dab in the middle(I can't afford two).
-I want to retrim the seats with some tan full grain leather. I have a friend who imports leather sofas, so I'll just have to order one big piece of leather from the factory.
-Interior theme is gonna be brown(leather, wood steering wheel, wood dash), purple(carpets(think of the purple in the jags glovebox that Jeremy Clarkson drove when he raced the sun)), black(floor mats(cocomats), dash rail, suede dash), and chrome(steering wheel, door furniture, quickshift, bottom dash rail chrome trim). Have to find a right Indian fabric that will match that and retrim the door cards

Yup, pretty average, nothing too fancy.

p.s. His name is Marty

Yes Marco!

I love your car.

Didn't realise how spec'd up it was! Did you do the engine work yourself?

Thanks Noah

I wish I could say yes, but there's a local mechanic that does the work for me. He fixes most of the minis in town. I didn't want to mess anything up as it was my daily drive the first few years.

Maybe when I have a second mini and a garage. I would really love to have a go myself.

Where is the run BMC sticker?....

It's... on the rear passenger side window. funny thing happened. The first day I put it on, some guy did the wind down motion on me and asked what BMC was. It's tiny and barely noticeable as he was in a big pick up truck on the other side of the car. I'll get a picture of it next time (tomorrow).

Does anyone know? is 3.353 metres of side trim enough for both sides of the car or should I buy two?

I guess he is the color of a smarty.... That could make a good nick name

Oh how I dream of owning a woody. I mainly wanted to compliment the red with reddish tones. Like yellow and brown, and even purple has red in it.

you have a lot of minis in vancouver?

I would say there are between 30 to 50 minis out there in Vancouver (I'm being very generous with the estimate). They all hide and only come out for shows 10 at a time. I think I might be the only one that drives it year round. The last time I saw a mini driving on the road not during a car show was a year and a half ago.

I'm the one with the dirty revolites. There is a yellow mini beside the red one just out of frame. eight minis and that was a pretty good turn up.

Oh yeah, and there are no clubmans. I've only seen three clubmans in my life. Two who drive up from the states for shows, and one clubman woody with 60's Norwegian wood vinyl sticker on the back half of the car that is rotting away in my mechanic's backyard.

And another picture of the insides. I cut a piece of cork to cover the hole where the shifter boot was.

Hey I'm back. Phew...

Having been away for a year, I came back to this. And wouldn't you know it, it started right up.

A good wash, claybarring and wax; with help from a buddy and his '89 CRX si.
IMG_2885b_zpsgg7l0spi.jpg
...in someone's back alley. Thanks property owner!
IMG_2911_zpsqn7n51uk.jpg

Having daily'd something with a bit more power, I felt the mini could lose some weight =)

I have an idea I'm trying to see through. Here is an in-progress update:
Satin roof wrap; youtube made it look easy. I was freaking out trying to fit this thing. Once this falls off I'm spraying it Lol
