I can also see it dropped. I've been reading about springs, for many years now.... kinda feel like trying out a set. Maybe with adjustable dampers (currently on KYB) and sway bars.

Made some progress yesterday. Might go over the white lettering with a more beigey white to tone it down, as I think I painted them a lil too big

Gave it a wax and polish before putting it in storage for the winter
And my giant friend who did all the work

Mini was broken into few months ago....

fortunately, I blew the headgasket the morning of, so they were not able to start the car. They did not even know how to use the choke anyway. The lock on that side of the door was broken to begin with. So I'm glad the mini gave those bastards a good fight.
I got a replacement door, it was a 70s canadian spec so it had side impact beams, which is much heavier than my japanese door.

I bought some house paint and gave the whole experience a title

I'm sure all of you can relate....
This is Kintsugi (gold joinery)

A japanese way of fixing pottery with gold to accentuate the beauty of flaws, to another extent the motion and force of physics, I guess.
So I gold-leafed where all the pry marks are.

I'm gonna wear the scars proudly before I eventually restore the body. I can relate to my mini going through this experience.. I didn't want to just fix everything and pretend like nothing had happened. It's a part of its history and it only makes the car more special to me. Not something to hide from.

This was last week. Work starts on replacing the head gasket and rad.

Between first two cylinders. This is the third time it blew in the past 10 years, same spot.

Hope the block is looking okay.

Starting to put things back in place.
Realized I needed double valve springs with my new 1.5 roller rockers(I know, too much for a small bore, it was on sale), so I'm gonna wait for those before tightening things down.
Also, bought a heater take off blanking plate from DSN with the 1/4 allen head bolts. But my head used screws with a different pitch and the holes are slightly closer together than the blanking plate. So will have to figure that out...any ideas? helicoil?
Oh one more thing. DSN designed and made me a spacer so I can fit their top engine steady on a LHD car(for free! thank you DSN!). That was many months ago. Still have to drill out the captive studs on the bulkhead before I can put them on. What a goof am I.
Tore out the carpets and sound deadening. That stuff was a lot heavier than they looked!

Rusty floors

Got a new wheel, old one was bent pretty bad by the "thief"

Bought an autodromo watch a while ago, thought I'd give it to the car.

Design looked very Smithsy

Took the dash out as well, designing a custom wood dash. Buddy has a CNC machine

Learning how to 3D, this is just practice, not to scale or proportion.

Would love to sell these dashes one day, and more mini parts if I can learn how to 3D better.

great thread :) iv got a checkmate so basically the same car
Sweet, I wouldn't mind having me a checkmate.
Wasted a new watch on the mini...

Ruined a brand new rocker cover...

Dropped a manifold nut and couldn't find it....Otherwise I'd be done! They didn't have brass 5/16unf nuts at the local nut store, will have to order and wait a bit more.
