Look for boot board brackets.
Some-one said ealier...if it has a floor starter button...it's not Cooper or S
If heater take off is at a slight angle on head it is most likely a 1275 engine...if it is a 1275 engine and it has tappet covers on the back of block with breather...then it is a Cooper S block ( or 1300GT(?) How many head nuts / bolt visible?
Look for chrome around door glass
What does the speedo go to?
Car# ( on slam panel or rad shroud )
etc.

People are forgetting that the Twins may have just been added to the engine way back when. May be an 850 with some Twin Carbs.

I wouldn't get your hopes up:

- Go in with details of the engine numbers you're trying to match, so take the engine numbers for the 850s, 970, 1091, 1275. These are all Mk1 engines.
- I'd also go in with a similar gauge for mk3 engines, remembering that it may have changed.
- Ian, this is the time to take pictures, of everything, and I mean ******* everything. If that means you fill up and 8GB SD card so be it, we can then filter through the photos making sure what you are looking at.
- Has it still got its mk1 shell? smaller rear window, etc etc.
- Whats left of the in side.

its a mk1... the rustiest one you've ever seen... i'll take some photos when my err... NEW SHINY CAMERA ARRIVES. then i'll see... the problem is the guy selling is the same guy that wanted 5k because he had an early lhd shell... so i can see him wanting extortionate amounts for zee mini... i will check through all of the things and let ya know...

if someone could grab me the engine numbros that'd be good :)

and any particular angles and pics you may want to determine this junk?

Nope just every thing in detail, as much as you can. Even if you think its useless. Photograph it, even if you end up taking pictures of 4 rusty shock absorbers. Everything is important.

anything starting with "8" is an 850
99h = 998
10 = 1098
9F = could be anything from 997 Cooper to 1275 S
12H = 1275

then there's a bunch of possibilities of replacement engines

Just start dry-humping it. then photographing it will seem normal.

Well refurbed sets seem to go for silly money, but I'm unsure as to the value of damaged/destroyed/rusty ones :)

at a very very blind guess, after checking out a couple of google pics... they are possibly twin 1/42 SUs... but saying that they could be made of unicorn horn and rhino testicles and i'd still think they were rusty pieces of crap.

anyone here build carbs for funsies?
