Hi all,
Now I have the engine running on the temporary loom what is the easiest way of checking oil is being pumped round the engine properly?
I haven't got an oil pressure gauge that is plumbed in so don't even know if the pressure is ok. Don't want to run it much without checking this out.
Thanks,
Graham

Just get yourself an oil pressure gauge, it can be a life saver.

Only basic check is whip up the rocker cover and look for the signs of oil, but that wont confirm oil pressure only safe way is a pressure gauge as said by BRG above mate

Or you could use the standard oil pressure switch, 12v bulb pick up a 12v feed from your loom and the other side of the bulb to the lucar on the standard oli pressure switch, making sure you have a earth and it will work the same as a standard car fitment.
Depending if the switch is the std 5psi or the competition 22psi you will know it at least has one of the pressures.

Have ordered a gauge pipe to test properly but would like to quick test as u say. Not sure of your wiring tho.
Is it 12v to one side, other side of bulb to spade on oil switch and earth block as usual, light will go out with pressure??

I assume you at least have a low pressure warning light wired in?! I'd never run an engine for more than a couple of seconds without one, even then that would be extenuating circumstances.

Not at present, oops, have only run it for short bursts of a few seconds so far. This is the point of my question so I don't damage anything
