I come from an aircraft and motor-sport background where failure modes are very important. Thus I would never use a single relay for a pair of main beams nor would I ever 'double-connect' the earths. A separate fuse for each bulb filament is also important.
Every circuit should have an independant earth connection. I even fit twin electric fuel pumps, each with a separate power supply from a different power source, separate switches, fuses and earths.

Read carefully what mini13, Cooperman and I said. I don't see any different opinions at all. I happen to be a safety expert in a different field, and am quite appalled by things like single point earths for both lamps.

ok then, different way of explaining things, :P because do the wires have to be taken out of the plug that goes into the back of the bulb holder and replaced with thicker wires and completely replaced with thicker ones? or cut back a bit from the bulb holder and put thicker ones in, or with a fuse what combination or which one? :P

thanks

Yes, you should use thicker wire throughout. You may be able to find bulb holders with thicker wires already fitted. And, as I said, please do ensure that you take the black wire from each headlight directly to its own local earth point, which it can share with the sidelight and indicator on the same side. That will actually need less new wire anyway, so you win on both cost and safety.
