Hello everyone.

I'm in the middle of givin. my mini 30 a major mechanical overhaul
And engine swap to 1275. I have just got the subframe out and stripped
It all ready to be blasted and powder coated.

I've just given it a quick clean and inspection and noticed something that
worries me a little, I have included a picture of the problem area, its where the lower arm attaches.

Just wanted the advice of some more experienced mini people.
Thanks, Ben.

often referred to as laminar corrosion or de-lamination, its a bad sign, personally I would it to be a lot safer before I used it on the road

only way is to cut out & reweld two pieces back in as they are two pieces that have swelled into one.

I think you'll find that most companies will NOT have the insurance to perform this type of repair, it is potentially very dangerous if not done correctly.

I might be able to get it welded at work if I can find an engineering company to make up the new panel.

I work at an aircraft maintenance company so welding quality won't be a problem. Can't really afford a new subframe and can't find any non gen subframes, do they exist?

why not just source out a second hand sub-frame which is in better condition and then work on that.. :)
