Good afternoon TMF,

So yesterday we officially launched our central arm rests (info here: LINK).

The thread has turned into a "we want cup holders" debate. As I've said several times over in the thread we love the idea of incorporating a cup holder into the Classic Mini interior, but incorporating a cup holder into another product (arm rests, centre consoles and/or dashboards) simply doesn't work.

So, considering that there is so much talk about people wanting a cup holder (it was also something that had previously been suggested for dashboards: LINK) we think it is worth looking into creating a cup holder product.

We have an idea of what we could do, but the big question is, would anyone pay so much money simply for a cup holder.

So, please answer the poll and later on today I'll give you a little bit more info about the idea.

Thanks

I don't have pictures atm, but I modified my centre console to contain a cup holder. Would have gladly paid out £10-15 for one instead to have saved me the trouble.

It's a poll to see if it's worth looking into creating a cup holder product - so a completely separate product.

I suppose I would probably pay around £15-£20 for something of good quality. Maybe more if it was possible for a 'twin cup' version..

It might have already been covered in another thread, but an idea just popped into my mind. Would it be possible to attach a cup holder onto the side of a centre console? - you could then have one on each side for driver & passenger.. Or would it be in the way of your knee when using the clutch?

Already covered, absolutely every option for incorporating a cup holder into another product has already been exhausted - I've said time and time again that we have looked into incorporating cup holders and it's can't be done, it's something that we want to incorporate but it simply can't be done etc.

If you would like to read through the suggestions that fellow members have already made please see LINK & LINK.

The above is the reason that we have created this thread, simply to find out about offering a cup holder product - but by looking at the votes so far it won't be happening.

I suspected that although Mini owners like the idea of having a cup holder in there Mini, they would also not be willing to spend the cash on a product for it (personally I wouldn't spend so much on a cup holder either).

if you look at the golf/bora mk4 cupholders they are VERY easy to make fit,
bolts straight underneath the bottom dashrail
or if you have a centre-console with space for a radio it slides into that too

you can pick those up for literally £2 from a breakers as those parts just dont sell!

As the only real product on the market is ABS Motorsports (quite expensive) cup holder I would be willing to pay anything less than that really!

you see so many modern fancy push and release cup holders in modern cars now. there must be a product out there and incorporate it into the dash some where.

I get one free every time I order a coffee from Mcdonalds drive thru so I wouldn't pay much more than the price of the coffee.

I'm planning on using a old head unit holder upside down bolted to the cross member with the drinks holder you can get from eBay. It's slightly out of arms reach and doesn't work if you have a passenger but they can hold it, but no further than a head unit on the passenger side
