Just because I was, ..... bored I thought I would contact Falken about their new ZIEX ZE914 tyres that have been getting good reviews improving over the ZE912's we currently have available to us in the 165/60 12 size. Turns out they plan to bring this Tyre to our classic Mini's within a couple of years. Will it finally be better than the Yokohama A539's?

I've got the 914's on my Golf, they are good tyres and bloody cheap to boot.

I've picked a few of these up for orders at work: http://minispares.co...px|Back to shop

They seem a better than the older tread pattern, but then again, I haven't used them and don't know of anyone, just happened to be the case that someone bought 4 so I noticed they were different.

Any reviews? I'm going onto tens but no doubt soon they'll phase out the older tread pattern and replace with that on the 165/70/10 sizing.

Well they can't be any worse than their current ones LOL. Mine slides all over the shop in the rain, like driving on ice!! Luckily I have some Yoko A539s now :D

My review would be ''wet dog on lino'' in the wet but mine were 145's of the same version. They are the best of the budget lot though

I thought with a new tread pattern they may have improved.

I'll stick to the Yokos, they're expensive but worth it.

NEVER had a problem with the Falkens.

Would NEVER buy the Yokohamas.

Really don't get the hatred towards the Falkens, they've never let me down yet (apart from one puncture!)

I can't comment as I haven't driven on either, but considering there seems to be alot of hate towards them....

and the recommendations for the Yoko A008s for tens are ridiculous, they seem to be one of the best tyres out there in that size, for road use of course.

Once at the correct pressure, falkens are very good, the A539 are for girls.

Rain, snow, near floods, mud, track, road NEVER NEVER had an issue with the Falkens.

Never squealed except on a very hot dry day in a car park!

Since there bringing new tyres tothe market they should look into providing a tyre to fit the 10x7 rims which are gettin very popular.

Have falken and yokos on my car and i personaly find the yokos to have better grip in the wet

I've used both ZE912's and A539's and I always thought the Yoko's were better but only marginally and not worth the current price difference.

It's the old Falken Pattern (not sure of the name) that's supposedly awful.

Falkens are all well and good in the dry, gripping pretty well most of the time. They are acceptable tyres for general driving, but the limit is never too far away, that is the difference. In the wet, you may as well be on black ice when you are driving enthusiastically and considering here in good ol' England it's wet most of the time it can get a little tedious. However in the snow, the Falkens were magic, they took me up hills that other cars couldnt cope with and were very responsive. Yokohama's, although more expensive, I believe only enhance the already awesome feeling of driving a Mini.
