I will still stick by the Falkens.

I drive 40 miles a day. More at the weekend.

The car is and has been driven through all kinds of weather.

The Yokies I had on the car when I bought it were ok(ish) in the wet, great in the dry but were scrap far too soon for my liking.

The Falkens have been brilliant in the dry, great in the wet, ploughed through fields, snow, floods, ice and generally behaved theselves very, very well. Getting me places other cars couldn't reach.

The only time I got stuck was on Porth beach, but that was more down to my driving :ohno:

Plus their longevity is a massive bonus.

Truth is , its each to their own and choose wisely. If you only do short distance and mainly in the summer, go Yokies. Longer distance and all kinds of weather then go Falkans.

Truth is I just wish some of the other tyre manufacturers would open up the optiions, so our main choice isn't just down to two main names.

well I've had both and the only significant differences i have found is the speed at which the yoko's wear and the how much cheaper the falkens are.

Without offending anyone, i think the difference is driver related to be honest, correct use of the throttle in corners, correct tire pressures and feeling what your car is doing in the corners. The difference in falkens and yoko's in the wet is so minimal its hardly worth mentioning, i could corner at pretty much the same speeds in the wet before i felt any slipping, at most there will be 2-3 mph difference which in a road use scenario is unnoticeable. The hype is writing cheques the tires can't cash. That is my experience of them anyway.

I'm going to try a set of Falkens first, as they're cheaper and see what happens. If they're like driving on ice, then I'll buy some Yokos.

If the car's set up properly, the tires are at the correct pressure etc you'll probably not even notice a difference mate. I recon that if you blind folded people into a mini, removed blindfold then let them drive it, 8 or 9 out of 10 wouldn't be able to tell which tires they were or would guess incorrectly.

I will add that the age of the tire also makes a difference, if its been stored on a shelf for 5 years doing nothing prior to purchase it will be considerable worse than a new tire. always buy them from someone that has to order them in from the manufacturer dealer rather than someone who keeps them on stock.

They will both be good tyres. A grippier rubber will almost certainly wear quicker. And both are better than my NanKangs! I plan my route to work to get the best corners on roundabouts, sideways!

The Ziex are totally different from the old FK and the 145s, i really dont get people comparing 145s or FKs with the A539........
Falkens can also handle with a bit of gravel, where the yokos dramaticaly fail
Falkens wear rate is a bit high though...
