nice:) have a look through the projects section on here, get an idea on major panel replacement, it sometimes can be hard to know what skin goes where etc when its all a rusty brown mess. also, some of the build will make you want to do a real mint proper job, they are just so good! i can see the difference between my work from my clubman to my mk2 miglia i am doing now. the repairs are all factory to mint or you just cant tell.

damn forum! you will wish you never had joined! :D

Its his (yours) mini... Dont just put it back to standard for moneys sake and a good resale value... But dont mod it too much! A 1980's mini is to be modded loads but there is a line with a '59.. A few 'different' adaptations are wicked, as Artful dodger says, do something cool ;D

Restoring it is not for money's sake, solely for sentimental value, he loves his mini and is upset that he hasn't got it back running since he left it in storage all those years ago, but between having me and my brother and looking after the business and everything he has never got around to it.

But now me and my brother are old enough to look after ourselves, with the business doing alright and with me and my brother also able to help it is definately looking like it will be getting looked at sooner rather than later :)

But yes as you said it won't be getting modded further than it is currently, if anything more to standard but still not quite there.

You'll never beat originality to claim top dollars, (sorry we're talking 1959 here so pounds, guineas, half a' crown, shillings, d) but some of the mods your dad put on back in the day could spin themselves around to be classicly sought after period mods, like original hardy spicer driveshafts, (I'm sure Cooperman can go further), personally I would'nt replace things like that or replace period but 'modified' paneling.
My advice is to tidy up what you, every mini is an ever evolving history book in themselves. Would love to see those pics though, tidy up, cherish, & enjoy!!

Surely period mods are worth something? Depending on what bits were used ofcourse. Upload some pics please!

Im hoping to get some pictures of it today, but we will see! i know it needs some new top hats on it or something because its currently sitting on its wheelarches lol.

But yes the plan will be to tidy the entire thing back up and get it back on the road more than anything :)

Personally you should keep the mods he has already done when he was younger, they are period mods, in my opinion that's what people wanted when they brought the car so keep it looking like its years, but obviously its your dads car so he will do what he likes, but a 59 mini is a very cool thing to own, I would love a heavily modified one, just so I can go to shows and really annoy all the purists haha
