I was in Hereford one Saturday and a gorgeous red 159 Sportwagon pulled up alongside me - I just stopped and stared at it for ages. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen! So, I had to have one!

About a week later, I'd found one over in Milton Keynes.

So - I went and grabbed it with both hands!

It's a 2.4 JTDM - 200BHP/295lbft - So it does shifty nicely! :-)

It's got a full black leather interior, split climate control, cruise control, xenon lights, automatic wipers & lights, headlight washers, 'follow me home' lights, 'mood lighting' (ahahah), parking sensors, electronic hill-hold, ABS, ASR, PAS ... RAC!

Anyway, I am completely and utterly in love with my car. :P

The day I got it! :D

(Note the AWFUL badge!)

So, had it for about 2 weeks and then ...

Dead >_<

Posted Image

Couldn't start the thing for about 3 weeks! A Bosch diesel specialist came round and couldn't work it out.

So, we took it up to Simply Alfas in Stourbridge, who got it working straight away!

(A blocked EGR. Not dirty - someone had removed it and fitted it incorrectly, so blocked the intake!)

So, happy as larry - fully serviced & a bill for more than I'd like to remember, I picked it up! :D

Worked flawlessly until we went on holiday to Cornwall last year! :errr:

It all ended in total disaster - puff of smoke & an awful 51 hours trying to get home with the RAC!

Turns out my power steering belt pulley had actually sheered off - which is why there was smoke, because of the rubber slipping!

So - back up to Simply Alfas who sorted it all out for me! :D

And since then ... BEAUTIFUL!

My next job was to fit a new badge - as the other one was faded and awful!

We had some fun in the snow! :w00t:

Posted Image

And I've now fitted some genuine Alfa roof bars! :D

Posted Image

So, we're nearly up to date!

It's been at Simply Alfas since Wednesday having a full diagnostic check and an MOT.

It's flown through the MOT, so that's good! But did need 2 glow plugs and a turbo boost solenoid. (I had a problem with it overboosting constantly, but now that's completely gone!)

Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow and have a play again! :w00t:

And yes - Alfa owners are just as mental and stupid as Mini owners when they see each other!

would still have to go with the 159 over the brera as the power to weight is better :P plus with the extra 6k i could insure and get some work done to it ;)

My dad had a GTV6 and he said it was the best car he has owned and he's had more cars than I've had hot diners, he said everything was right on it on the twisty bits, with the gearbox in the back, for the weight distribution.

I do like yours though Bean, very much so infact!

yep if I didnt have too many cars already, the next modern I would have would be exactly what you have bought (but probably not silver, I do like them in black also, or red/1). 159 2.4 jtdm is the one to go for!

what sort of economy do you get from it?
