Hi all,
Swapping out my old cassette player from the MPI, wondering if anyone knows how to take it out/where to get the right sort of Radio key? Bit of a basic question I know, but thats just me I guess! :shy:
Many thanks in advance!

You need the normal U shaped prongs. Go down to halfords, or have a look on ebay, I believe they are normally a standard size like a DIN or ISO.

Just a thought, but you might want to keep the cassette player safe somewhere. If you ever come to sell the Mini in the future, although cassette players are archaic, they would add value to the car as it's an original item

Yep still got mine :D it's never been used, the previous owner never even put the code in.

To be honest, I wish the owner left mine in! He did such a shambles job of putting a cheap, nasty aftermarket CD player in that, it was the first thing I removed and replaced once I got it home lol. That alone Nige is probably worth a few quid!

don't worry its going to be wrapped away in cotton wool and I'm not changing the actual head unit wiring at all with the new system (using adaptors), as this is a totally original, v low mileage car, so would be a crying shame to bodge in a HU which will look crap in ten years time. Already got the code, so should be ok from that perspective... just for ease of use really

Good good :proud: you'll thank me in years to come when were all driving around in Minis with holographic HU's ;D they'll all marvel at your cassette player when it comes to selling time! Is yours a Se7En by the way? Cant tell from your profile pic, looks nice. Can only just make out the Pepperpots, or to use their real name "Rover Premium Alloys" lol

Yeah this is true haha!
Its a bit like a Se7en, but its actually a normal MPI from 1997, so the interior is tweed and walnut rather than 59 esque cloth and red gloss dash!
Lold at "Rover Premium Alloys" at least they don't rust!
Only changes made to it so far are bootliner kit, chrome wipers and some polished air vents, keeping as stock as possible but tempted to colour code the special arches all the same...
I'd put up some pics but can't figure the system haha

Ah, a rare MPi you have then. Most MPi's of this year were either Se7En, Cooper Classic (mine) or Sportspack. Anything else is usually considered quite rare!
Yep that's true lol, I quite like them myself, not many people still have them fitted to the MPi's these days.
Go for it! I'm sure the arches were colour coded around this time anyway, my Cooper (1998) has the arches in standard Grey/Black. But this is only because some melon has put the wrong ones on or taken the originals off. They should be colour coded far as I'm aware.

To put pics up, create an account on Photobucket or Flickr, upload pics then use the image code provided and copy and paste into your comments

Yeah, don't see myself coming the other way! Cooper classics were always smart too, loving the BRG!
Could be a good summer job... I'll sort out the photos when I get a minute! Thanks
