Not only on here but someone I know has had there mini stolen guessing the increase in prices spares etc.
I have seen these GPS trackers you just use a pay as you go SIM card that you can ring and it sends you the co ordinates for google map and a link for smart phones to track also you can stop the engine and listen to an external mic £50 and they have 5 star reviews surly these are a must

I have a trick that they'd only be able to steel my mini if they tow it

Take the starter relay out and hide it in the car somewhere :)

It'd obviously be better than nothing but it does rely on getting a gps and phone signal.

The alternative is 150-200 plus annual subscription of£100+ so value for money I would take a chance on this you have got to be very unlucky not to get any signal at all. Especially if you wire up the engine cut out which when you ring/ text it it shuts off the engine when it hits under 20kmh

All our work vehicles have gps trackers and a tracking program to live track the vehicles. Signal does drop out quite often in remote places. Ours are on O2 data sims for £5 per month. The trackers are £250 each but the do have alot of features and battery back up.

What you'd need ideally is a system that's in constant communication & also alerts if the communication is lost. It's clearly in the bounds of mobile phone technology, as they manage to keep your phone connected for incoming calls.
