Anything involving rubber, use Silicon Paste, grease reacts with the rubber and deteriorates it.

Wheel bearings and other stuff, Multi-Purpose grease.

In addition to that, white greese on hinges, copper grease on nuts and bolts and CV joint grease for CV joints.

Cheers. Would track rod ends with their rubber dust caps need silicone grease?

They should be pre-greased when you buy them, but adding some silicone paste is never a bad idea.

All manuals tell you what grease to use where. Ball joints, wheel bearings, all suspension grease points, handbrake guides, and so on use a lithium high melting point grease. Castrol LM or Duckhams LB10 or equivalent. This can also be used for the wiper mechanical parts as the specified Ragosine Listate Grease is not available anywhere.

Not sure what is meant by Silicone paste, rubber should be greased with red rubber grease where it is needed (although it's only really needed if rebuilding a brake component, rubber can normally be left alone). Silicone will simply shine it up and won't feed the rubber at all.

The clutch release mechanism should see a graphited grease such as Graphogen.

Copper slip on the BACK of brake pads!

Track rod ends are not serviceable in a Mini, they don't need greasing. All treating the rubber would do is make it shiny.

If they squeal then get the dust out and clean all contact points on (shoes to wheel cylinders) with copper grease.

@Dan.

3M Clear Silicone Paste: http://www.amazon.co... silicone paste

And dan, its not for treating rubber parts, its for things like calliper slide pins etc. Where the rubber will be deteriorated by normal MP grease.

This is very dangerous !

You can apply copper slip, however please make sure NONE of it goes near the friction surfaces of the pad and or disc !

lol, i remember reading an article about a woman that crashed her car when she sprayed all inside her wheels with wd40 to stop brake squeal !!

i call it natural selection... but id rather not see any minis hurt in the making.

Iv used Ceramic grease before for high temperature components such as manifold nuts (and other high temp fasteners) brake sliders and break pads

Sorry, yes I should've mentioned, not to apply Cooper Grease to the friction material itself.

In a Mini? There isn't anything needs to be greased like that in our cars, they were designed in a time when lithium grease was fairly modern.
