Hope someone can help before I start ripping out clocks and stuff.

I have a centre binacle with centre speedo and 2 small guages; oil and water.

I plan to make my own dash.. but move the clocks behind the steering wheel and bring them forward.

What I'd like to know is... can the Centre speedo and oil and water clocks be moved there? And will I be able to move them forward? How much?

I havn't taken the binacle out yet, so I dont know how much slack there is in the speedo cable, oil pressure line or water temp sender line.

Anyone?

There is precisely zero slack in the speedo cable. Luckily people have been doing this mod for a long time and so the needed longer speedo cable is commonly available from Mini specialists. There's plenty of length in the oil pressure hose and the water capilary, but if they do get snagged you can re-route them through other holes in the bulkhead. That is if you do have a capilary water gauge, the vast majority are electric which makes it easy to move.

Actually I should have said that the oil pressure gauge hose is easy to extend rather than that it is long enough at the moment! Sorry.

Ah ok, I take it some new hose is in order, cut to the correct length?

I shall look for some hose now.

the oil pressure hose is really long so you should be alright if you decide to re-route it to the drivers side, just drill a hole in the bukhead and put it through there

You would need the extra long speedo cable, think its about 1025mm, have a look on DSN classics website. as this is the one that has enough slack in it to reach, the other long version onlyhas 4 inches longer so wont be enough
