Never happier than when trout or salmon fishing.

I don't get to do it often as it is either expensive or I have to travel to my sisters (where it's free).

I even tie my own flies and made two of my fly rods.

Nothing more chilling than fly casting.

Also love a bit of deeper water spinning. My record is a 17lb pike.

i have never done fly fishing might have to give it ago. to me tho it looks bloody hard work back in and then back out over and over lol

i'm a very keen angler too, i usually fish down my local river for roach, chub, dace and perch on my pole. biggest from there is a 2lb 9oz chub, 1lb 7oz roach, 9oz dace and 2lb perch.

personal best is 13lb 6oz carp on my pole from a lake in the club.

i like river fishing mostly i catch bream or eals

Nah, it's fine. Well balanced setup and its nothing more than a flick of the wrist. I enjoy it at my sisters as I have to cast into eddy pools under trees, along rocky banks etc. So you concentrate on that, and all your problems just drift away. :)

Defo. worth a try in open ground first though. The idea is to flit a fly in and out again. Get it into a feeding area and you are very nearly guaranteed a catch.

I was lucky to hire a holiday cottage in the North York Moors about ten years ago with fly fishing rights (and all the gear). I gave it a go on day one and then spent the next two weeks fishing for a couple of hours everyday. Pulled seven to ten brown trout everyday and returned most. To this day, regardless of all the overseas holidays I had since, it still stands as the most relaxing time in my life :)

Cheers

Ian

I do a fair bit of fishing in the summer, go with a few lads, set a few tents up, have a few beers and bbqs, i enjoy float fishing, as i find it more lively than sitting watching the end of a rod for hours on end, although i only catch little tiddlers, i dont do it to catch a big fish, just more fun for me.

Sea fishing and power caster (never got round to do any comps though) mainly off the beach and have been an avid fisherman for 43 years. Done a bit of fly fishing which is quite relaxing but not a trout in sight . Ho hum!!

Oh and a bit of coarse fishing as well, mainly Carp and Tench. I really need to get my act together and get down the beach. Its nearly Bass season.
