one thing i dont get is that you can buy various hilo/damper packages with standard height dampers but if you use the hilos (main reason to have them on your car is to lower it right?) u need lowered dampers . why sell standard dampers with hilos? shed me some light lol

i think the lowered shocks are for if you plan on lowering the car extensively. Someoe correct me if im wrong though.

The lower your mini is the stiffer the dampers need to be to prevent the wheel from hitting the arch

lowere shocks are because the running range of shocks change's so if u run a standard shock too low you stand a chance of leakage but to it being run under differant running height and strain

how low would you recommend kyaba gas adjusts to go? im asking as i have just put some on with hilos and am about to lower it now its settled for a week.

It depends how much you want to lower it. An inch should be fine with standard length shockers (so those KYB gasajusts should be fine!). If you really want to drop your car, then you'll need lowered shocks (and you might have to keep in mind that your wheels may rub on your arches or bodywork when hiting bumps or on corners!)

cheers pavel, when u say an inch, how much gap should i have between the arch and tyre? my old mini wasnt lowered but it might as well have been as it was low, if i lost an inch on that then the tyres would be rubbing like mad :'(

kyb gas adjust have the longest and shortest working range of vertualy any shock in the market

you also need lowered shocks whengoing realy low because when you jack the car up the trumpet can fall out if it is lowered so far without a shorter shock
I hope that makes sense

Miniboo that's true as well. IF by any chance you get airborne on a bump you could dislocate your rear trumpets. Although to be honest if you're getting air like that quite often then you've got bigger things to take care of
I lowered my car a bit at the back and right now both front and back I can fit about 3 fingers (tight) between tyre and body, so that should give you an idea. I am running standard length shockers but wouldn't want to lower it further without getting lowered ones.

yeah i was reading about that problem somewhere, thats what made me think about this. i want to have about 25-30mm on the rear and 25mm on the front, do u think i could with the kayaba gas adjust without that happening?

KYB's should be fine for that!

yeah i think that is an ok distance, just about on the limits.
i think it is normally said that anything over an inch is bordering on dodgy with non-lowered shocks
