It's alright, not to my taste but I can appreciate the effort gone into it. Me personally I prefer the natural patina look like this Mini I took pics of at Brooklands

Got more pics of it on my FB, but for me, that was a proper "rat" look, aged paint naturally, pitted chrome and dull faded glass

Keep it to yourself, it's boring. Would you like it if someone criticised your mini that you've put time, effort and money into just because it's different and not to everyone's taste?

A car like that is obviously going to divide opinions. Get off your high horse.

(or prat look if that's what people want to call it)

:D :D :D :D :D yep

To be fair though, I bet that's what most of the people who see it think

Edit: obviously he doesn't care though, which is good because he is happy with it and yes alot of effort, but looks silly IMO

But that's the thing with Rat Look, it has a certain irony to it that's lost on an awful lot of people. Rat look is cool in a kind of tongue in cheek sort of way, and for that reason it's always quite amusing to stand back and watch the various expressions of disgust and bemusement on people's faces at mini show's who just don't get it!

Rats are always going to divide opinion. To me, I love the front on this one, I love the peak, the grille the lights and even the coulthard chin. I also like the wee flag on the back.

Check me out, being all positive...

I actually dislike the fake rat look you get mostly in the dub scenes, its poserish and stupid, I do like the true ratty cars where the owner has spend all his money on the engine and drivetrain and not bothered with the asthetics of the exterior because its not as important and its brilliant when much bigger cars get shown up by the tatty mini who has just bombed past.

but I actually really like this car in question as its clear a lot of work has gone into it and the owner probably does care, hes not just left it to rust he has actively put a lot of work into the look of the car

Hes got the balls to do something different with his car. No harm in that. Beats making a 'works replica' or 'Im going to play it safe....' options so many do these days.

Sam gets a big thumbs up from me!

I do like this car, although that people can say its 'done well' etc kind of takes away what a ratty car is. I love ratty cars, I can't stand 'rat look' though, there's a huge divide between the people who understand it and those who don't.
Then there's those who try to analyse it to give it meaning, if you like it, brilliant, if you don't, then go look at that rsp cooper that's the se as the one next to it....and the one next to that... I could go on all night with this haha

Not usually a fan of the ''rat rod'' look but thats definitely different, willing to make an exception on this occasion granted its not to everyone's taste though, suppose thats what having a minis all about :D
