I've got some fuses which need replacing, but as the only way they are identified is by coloured stripes, I have no idea what the replacements need to be rated at. As the wiring is not standard and has been bodged around in the past, I thought just finding what the colours meant would be quicker than finding out what the actual broken thing is and what fuse it needs (as there are several broken things). I've tried google but I can't seem to get any results telling me what ampage the colours correspond to, so I thought I'd ask here
I've got a fuse with a brown stripe on it, and a fuse with a red next to a white stripe on it.
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I can't seem to find anything to help

Can you tell us which items the fuses are feeding, and what colours the wires are on each end of the fuseholders? That way, there is a much better chance of being able to identify which fuses are needed. The fuse colours themselves are not all that helpful.

These are the inline fuses by the way, all the fuses in the main fuse box are fine. I'll go have a look at the wire colours, but I'm fairly certain one is for the hazards as they are broken (and that is the only fuse which is properly broken, the other two are just a bit rubbish and corroded but I think they still work). I am slightly confused though as the indicators, interior light and hazards should all be on the same circuit shouldn't they? My indicators and interior light still work, and the hazard switch and it's connections all seem fine.
I just thought that if I knew the ampage that the colours on the fuses correspond to, then I'd just be able to replace them, but I suppose identifiying the components would be more helpful in the long run.

I've attached some pictures that might help, the top fuse is still intact and its a 12amp continuous (25A) Lucas one, the middle one is the one with the red and white stripes (which I think is 10A, as theres some faded writing around the end which looks like it says "TDC 330 10A"), and the bottom one is the brown stripe one which was horribly corroded and thus broke and ruined the fuse holder when it came out.
If this was standard wiring, would the wires on either side of the fuse be the same colour?
The top one is brown on the left, purple & yellow on right
Middle is blue (I think) on left and green & red on right
Bottom is brown (I think) on left and brown and yellow on right

The wires will be different on each side of the fuseholder. For instance, brown is the permanently live feed from the battery, via the main terminal on the starter solenoid. Not so sure that you can have a blue, as it is onlu used between the light switch and the dip switch, unless that fuse is feeding some auxiliary lamps that come on only with the headlamps.

I am at work right now, if you have not had a full answer from someone when I get home tonight, I should be able to give you a definitive answer, but I need to check the wiring diagrams first.

I figured out that the middle one must be for the wipers & fluid, as they weren't working until I put a new fuse in there. I can't help but think that the bottom one is for the hazards as they aren't working (though the indicators still work fine)
And there are some extra lamps, but I'm not sure how they are actually wired in
