If, for example, you had a new Mini back in 1960, then got into a car from around 1920 it would have seemed very strange.
When buying a Mini there are two things to bear in mind:
1. The biggest enemy is RUST. Just make sure it is not rusty.
2. Mechanical issues like steering, brakes, engine, etc., are easy to fix and if you don't have the mechanical ability and tools to work on the car yourself, maybe think again. Of course, we are all here to help with maintenance and re-building, but a bit of mechanical ability has to be there in the first place.

If you think - car
You will be disappointed.
If you think - go kart
you will enjoy every minute!

The throttle pedals on minis are quite light compared to some moderns although some modern cars (lupos for one) have very light accelerators, the gear stick shouldnt be woolly some mounts have gone or the shifter is worn, my gear shift on mine is very direct and positive. the steering will be heavier on a mini than a modern but not stupidly heavy, I have driven mine on standard 12" steel wheels and it was light, the 12" minilights which had larger 165 section tyres were heavier and I think my 7" wide 10" rims will be very heavy but i dont mind a work out, its all down to how large the wheels are and the amount of offset that determines the heavy steering, and brakes will take a bit of getting used to, I recommend disk brake conversion, mine stops very well on 8.4" disks which were standard from 1984 on mini 25s or 1985 on all I believe :)
