Very impressive! I've just started a degree in motorsport engineering so only started playing around with cad but that's stonkingly detailed

Where are you doing your degree? Im just finishing a Motorsports Engineering degree.

It's possible in the future that TMF might have a use for such a thing. Would you be willing to share it once it's completed?

I don't know what is going to happen to the work, I've had some interest from people looking to buy them. I'm a bit stuck with completing them at the moment to be honest because I've got to rebuild the engine soon and between now and then I've got exams. But if you have a use for them in the future I'd love to listen.

Well done......I have used Pro/Engineer/Creo 3D CAD for the last 20 years in mechanical product design......you have 'reverse engineered' the A-series very well !

Another CAD thread here with a complete Mini (although original link to 3d models has broken)

Creo!  We are being transitioned into using that.  Its horrible and takes 3 times as long as Solidworks to do anything!

I'm currently out on placement from an automotive engineering degree and have been using NX daily, used to use solid edge at uni, and I can appreciate how much time you must have spent on this! How detailed are you going with the modelling? Are you doing things like washers, shims, nut, bolts etc, as if you are it could be a very powerful tool for teaching about dismantling/rebuilding the a series - good work

For my BEng I had to use Solidworks to draw "more than x5 3D parts" and assemble them.

In comparison to your engine it looks a bit rubbish now.

More importantly I now use AutoCAD every day so it gave me a living even if its not in Automotive Engineering. If you can produce models like that you will have no trouble finding work after your Degree. Good luck.

Hi, trying to fire up this thread again then.....
I'm the "cnc programmer" and in looking for some little projects.
Would like to do a cylinder head from solid billet.
Looking for some CAD files. Stuff will be programmed on MasterCAM X9 and machined on a DMU 80 linier 5 axis.
Would be more than happy to share the cnc files once complete, but I need some CAD files first! :-)
