Hello,

Not to sure this is the right place to post but thought i would put a few pictures up of the distributor.

Just fitted to 998cc designer mini.

After we fitted it and re-set the timing i wish i had done it earlier its like a different car!!!

Its very straight forward and did plug and play (after some choice words didnt realise the drive on the end of distributor are slightly offset).

Can't see all the wiring but how have you wired the new dizzy..

It looks like you have the red wire going to coil positive...but the coil positive all shows the white/yellow wire.

Have you kept the ballast coil ??? If so the dizzy red wire needs a new 12v feed not connected to the coil

The red wire is connected to the positive of the coil and yes its still a ballast coil. Does it need a feed direct from the fuse or somewhere closer?

yes the red wire needs a feed off the fuse box...use the white wire...white wires are unfused 12v ignition switched live.

rest of the wiring is fine its just the red wire needs a new feed and do not connect it to the coil

Can i trace one back up the loom, just on the inside of inner wing and make a join or better to run a new wire from the fuse box.

Why does it run ok and what would happen if not changed?

Shouldn't be any white wires in the loom running to the front...closest will be up round the fuse box.

Probably just lucky its running OK but not seen one of these yet that doesn't recommend a full 12v feed, and at the moment it'll be running around 9v

Just read through the FAQ's on Powersparks page and it mentions removing the ballast or switching to non ballast coils.

So seems definitely it wants a 12v feed

just remember its only that red wire needs a new connection, it becomes a separate connection from the coil.

Coil wiring stays standard

Carn't really tell but red wire removed from coil and joins a black wire (my own wire!)

http://i1320.photobu...zps3bf3a669.jpg

Then cable tied following loom

Then you can just see the wire above the green/white

Started up still goes!!!! :proud:
