:trooper::(;):(;)

My mini's making a really weird noise - I've been ignoring it but now its getting worse. Bascially I notice it more when i slow down. Its like a grinding/squeaking noise that sounds more like a creak when going extremely slowly - i thought maybe the wheel's rubbing on the arch for some reason but I can't see how its happening when i check that.

its like a grind then a gap in the grinding and then a gap and then grind and as I get faster the gaps inbetween get smaller and then I cant hear it over the sound fo the engine. I'm really worried as its getting worse :S and it does sound more squeaky when its raining... like I said I dont think its the wheels though.

Im sorry I cant explain it better!

jack it up and see if the wheels have any play in then, it might be the wheel bearings

sounds like a wheel bearing that has died or the brakes are shot it needs looking at before you drive it any further really as its proberly unsafe

My Clio was making noises like that, I ignored it for ages :w00t: (well I do hate the thing!!) Went into the garage last Monday ready for selling it and a bearing had gone. I'd get it checked out soon :D

i thought when bearings are gone it makes a whirring humming kind of noise that gets louder when you go faster. I have this on my car and was under the impression it was the bearing. What could be wrong with mine??? Either way i am not driving it at the mo to be on the safe side.

i had this problem with my escort, the pads were sticking to the disks and this is why it happens only when you slow down or have use the brakes in the last 2-3 minutes, obviosly i havn't actualy heard the noise but i bet that is what it is, i had to rebuild the caliper
just a thought!

i would have said breaks, because if the noise goes away at speed it means there spinning at high speed so if they are rubbing slightly then it will hit a constant tone that will be drouned by the engine, also check the bearings!
