Okay so I was cleaning my engine bay and I accidently left the vac pipe off and then went for a blast, the engine didn't seem down on power at all. I have reconnected it now obviously. but she sounded turbo charged, it was beautiful :shy:

Do you think my engine is rather rich if I had no problems, I already know she is slightly rich as you can somtimes smell the petrol and I think some comes out of the exhuast when revving on the drive. (not coolent) coult be rain water.

Thoughts?

Edit, I also don't have the breather attached, but that is blocked off if that matters.

open the breather up! the Dizzy just advances or retards the timing, doesnt affect the fuelling.

The crank case breather is open with a filter on it, but where the breather would attach on the carb is where I have blocked it up, is this incorrect?

That's fine.  Think cal thought you meant you'd blocked the crankcase breathers up, :D.

Could be running a bit rich, as it would lean out a bit with the vac pipe off as the union on the carb/manifold would be open letting air in.  If you've got a friendly MOT station you could see if they could put it on the gas tester for you to see what CO your running.  Or you could get a gunsons colourtune or gas tester and do it yourself.

Mine chucks a load of mess out the exhaust when starting from cold.  So does my Dads '72 TVR, pretty normal on old carb engines I think.
