Hello everyone,

I'm currently giving my 1989 mini 30 a mechanical overhaul which includes putting a 1275 engine from a metro in (think its an mg metro engine but no numbers on block). I have installed a mini spares evolution 001 camshaft and twin hs4 carbs.

The time has come to sort out the ignition and need some help. Im thinking aldon yellow distributor but vac or non vac? And also what coil would I need, think the mini being 1989 would have a ballast in the system?

Any help would be much appreciated I'm in a bit of hurry trying to get the mini done before LeMans next month.

Thanks, Ben.

I have a Aldon Yellow on my 1330 and if its for road work get the vac advance unit for better running and economy, I use a lucas sports coil and use a new feed from the white wire on the ignition feed on the fuse box for a new 12v supply to the coil. I also have the aldon igniter but you could also use a powersparks or accusparks unit. works well in mine.
