As many of you know, for various reasons Gaydon are no longer hosting a Mini show, although they say that they are prepared to look at one for next year, if there is enough interest. However, this thread is not about that (so please debate it elsewhere), but it is about the new show.
Although the title gives you a clue, the show also included Austin Rover Group and Rover Group vehicles as well as MINI. If you are interested in the heritage side of Austin, Morris, BMC, BL, ARG, RG and MINI, then this will interest you. Gaydon currently have their 'Morris; the man' exhibition celebrating 100 years since the first car left Cowley. From the Mini perspective the 1959 Register, Traveller and Countryman Register and 500 Cooper Sport Register will all be there and all have interesting stands, with Registrars and owners who can tell you everything and more about these cars. There are also going to be three Austin Ants there (hopefully a fourth can make it) which will be the most of these vehicles in one place since they left Longbridge (I think there were only ever 24 built - but I may have that figure slightly wrong). There is the usual Mini/MINI concours and for MINI fans, the GPs are having a stand. More details of the show can be found here - http://www.bmcandleylandshow.co.uk/
The Cowley Convoy will be organising the convoy from MINI Plant Oxford to the show. MINI Plant Oxford are kindly opening their Centenary Exhibition for people to look round before we leave. Stuart Watson, aka surfblue63 has agreed to film the convoy. here is his last convoy film -
The convoy is entirely free (obviously you need to pay to get into the Gaydon Show) but there will be optional run plaques and car flags to buy at cost price. However, convoyers are free to use their own flags etc. Cowley Convoys are always good fun Please register for the convoy here - http://cowleyconvoy....show/4576314813
