I want... :D How does it fit?

Do you cut the original bonnet and fix it to the bottom?

The webber will get air of the same temperature as outside above 15mph without the aide of vents or cooling ducts.

Um not sure about that, otherwise why would any single car have a bonnet vent?

With a mini there is plenty of room around the engine for the air to flow through the grille and reach the back of the engine quick enough for it no to be heated, above 15mph. With other cars they are usually crammed with stuff within the engine bay that there isn't very good airflow around the engine, or they may need to get cool air to a specific part of the engine bay to which something is obstructing airflow. Now, ok, with a mini if there is something specific like an oil cooler or turbo that you want to get masses of air to then maybe you want to fit some sort of venting or ducting, but if its just the carb, then really its not necessary. This was proven by an experiment carried out by members of MiniFinity, with very conclusive results.

There is one exception to this, and that is ram air induction, but thats more to do with quantity of air and not temperature of air. It also requires precise calculation and not something I'm going to go into now.

EDIT: Sorry to take this OT a bit Smudger! :proud:*

This can just be bonded on, however, would be better with rivits to stop people robbing it. I would use black rivits and bonder.

The real ERA had 3 holes at back of bonnet, this was to let the hot air out of the engine bay, caused by a massive T3 Turbo sitting their!

I would just do the same, 3 holes, this over top and warm your windscreen up

Or just for pose value!

After all, seen any Carbon Fibre ERA Vents before?

this is not one of smudgers vents but they look like this fitted

Posted Image

i fitted mine as the cooper carbs have been known to over heat

i bonded mine on and fitted a black rubber trim around the bottom of it (like on the wheel arches)

i driled 4 holes in the bonnet with a hole saw in a drill (plumbers tank cutter) then stuck it on

when i bought mine it did come in carbon fibre but didnt look right so i sprayed it body colour

if you read vizards book, it says that the air travels too fast around the intake/air filter if its facing forward, and the air needs to be slowed to make it perform better :proud:

The whole point of the ERA Vent is to let the hot air out, caused by the turbo.

Carbon ones are mainly just for look, but still work if bonnet is drilled.
