have a word with the council your self, make sure they know your not running a business and it's just a hoby

they will tell you when it's ok to make some noise and when to find something quiet to do

i have had a complaint made against me by a neighbour we don't get on with, a word with the council sorted the problem and i can carry on doing what i was doing before

Not being funny, but if you live near a farm, then you should expect a certain amount of noise from either animals or machinery....

A Farm is an industrial unit.

Its probably town folk moved to the countryside for piece and quiet :)

My neighbours are brilliant both elderly only probablem I have is they get nattering over the fence and you lose working time :)

We had a complaint once from a woman who wandered up my drive no idea where from, best bit was we had packed up 2 hrs before and were lighting the BBQ.

My last house somebody reported me  for running a business from home, I'd done 3 different cars...cam belt on my mums, door spray on sisters and timing on a mates. All free of charge. And all down my drive and all no noise jobs.

Council told me unless vehicles registered to somebody at my address your not allowed work on them.

Thanks for all of the good advise. I went round for a chat and sorted it out.

I said that 2hours avg of grinding per week isn't excessive on a farm! I talked to a couple of other people in the village and apparently she's been a right pain in the a*** since moving in a year ago. Could tell she wasn't happy about it but what can you do!

Cheers,
Reuben

If you make them think they have won they will find something else to complain about. I would carry on as you are for now. luckily ive never had any complaints, sometimes grinding and welding till 4am ^_^
