Hi,

The following link takes you to the HRCR technical site for a cat 2 mini. This states you can use a weber carb, so that would indicate you must be able to add an air box. It also gives some other interesting options.

Another question though, can you use 4 pot brakes.

http://www.hrct.co.u...ategory-2-mini/

Like you say it is all a minefield and the changing regs do not help the clubman and his costs.

The question the scutineer will always ask....can you prove that the modification (in this case 4 pot brakes) were used during the period?  So were they even invented?  Did the works teams use them on the rally cars (they'd be the first to use them if anyone did)?

If it's no to those and you cannot provide documented evidence (articles in magazines etc) then they will politely tell you that you can't use that and ain't running in the event.

A friend of mine entered the Tour of Cheshire in his Morris Minor fitted with disc brakes.  He failed scutineering as Minor's apparently never had discs.

On a different note.....

The only people who can actually stop you competing in an event are the Noise tester and the Clerk of the Course.  The scrutineer can fail the car, but its the CoC who says YAY or NAY.  Thats what i was told anyway.

good job i aint doing historic rallying then ;) because i have minisport ally 4 pots, lol. special stage rallying seems to be more lenient (cant spell) with brakes upgrades and non period mods.

Half right ... the CofC is the only person that is allowed to exclude any competitor. The Noise tester like a scrutineer is a Judge of Fact in their relevant job and report to the CofC like any other Official of the event.

Yeh, but its simple to swap out calipers and a mini doesn't really require mega stopping power....although it all helps eh?

Oh...was given some bum info by someone......probably a noise tester who wanted to be important!!!

But if you do fail noise by alot...you'd be hard pushed to fix it 'easily' and 'perminantly' there and then, so you may as well be chucked out.

Building a car to modern stage specs is I think a lot simpler than building a historic - you only have to navigate your way through the Blue Book...!!  O_O  :D
