When i bought my mini i told insurance that the exhaust was none standard, they didnt ask for a model. This meant i could change it whenever i liked without notifying them :P

They usually like to have an idea of power increase, a stage one kit with in erase power but by how much is a hot debate. 4-6bhp is a reasonable middle figure. Most insurance companies aren't too worried about such a small increase so any premium increase shouldn't be horrendous but some companies are very fussy and others more relaxed so it pays to shop around.

Same here with Adrian Flux.

Phone them up, tell them what you are considering and they will be able to give you a definitive answer. Some of my modifications made no difference to my premium but your provider may be different and only they will be able to tell you a solid yes or no.

An old friend of mine had a increase of 25% on his premium on his old MR2 when he told them he had a Exhaust system fitted. My exhaust, manifold, intake, wheels, suspension, roll cage, seats, spots, arches, brakes, dash and dials have made no increase to my premium with Adrian Flux.

If your provider are not understanding with your requests there are companies out there who are, tell them this and that you will change provider if you have to, I am sure they will sort you out with what you need.

Hope that helps.
